Yea, i have rooted my Tmobile G2 and flashed Cyanogenmod 7 (Gingerbread). It runs extremely smooth. If you have an android device, i suggest flashing Cyan. You will be very pleased.
The process isnt difficult. They have a informative guide that shows you step by step on how to root your phone and then flash the firmware after.
Pros: Watch this! http://www.youtub...-uaVYxEjCM
*System is a whole lot stabler and faster meaning opening apps closing apps are super smoother and quick, I get no errors or they call them FC's (force closures).
*You can tether to your laptop by wifi or wired
*You can change themes, add custom applications that are not in the market etc
*It is constantly updated to ensure bug free operation
Cons:
*May void warranty
*May over work your phone (overclocking can damage your phone if done improperly)
*During the rooting/flashing process, if you do not follow the step by step, you may brick your phone meaning it is a useless device that no longer works.
