Mic/sound issues since update

Alright, so after this farking update, whenever I use my microphone it lowers the volume of the game. It's not instantaneous either, it happens at like a half second delay.
Any ideas as to wtf is going on? I don't think it's hardware, this all started happening after the latest CSS patch 0.o

yeah...i love how all the updates are only making more problems and they are slowly trying to get it back to the way it was BEFORE the major update. imbeciles! |

Interesting twist with this issue now, I use the mic, the volume goes down. Use it again, it gets lower... and lower... and lower until I can't hear squat. I have to completely restart CSS to get it to work again. Nice. |

reading on the forums they are trying to say its a server side issue because of codec's being changed

alright so i've done all i can on my end i decided to go to another clans server and test my mic and it works just fine but when i go to any of our servers nobody can hear me at all...can anybody help me out!?

i uninstalled my drivers reinstalled all this stuff lol even had sirent come in the server make sure I wasn't muted lol but then i went to the 420 server and my mic works fine there...and from what vape tells me my name icon dosn't pop up even when i'm trying to talk...but the little speaker one pops up on my end...

the next client update after that one actually fixed the issue of the volume being lowered when using mic while in-game.

How to fix the mic issues in CSS since update:
Alot of peoples mics do not work since the last update. They are going in and out and being choppy(almost as if you are lagging but you are not). Some people are having the issue of all the sounds being lowered when some one speaks on mic.
The fix to this is simple.
When source did its last update it changed
sv_use_steam_voice to 1. This is the wrong setting!!!!
It should be
sv_use_steam_voice 0.
My clan changed this in our server and everything having to do with voice is fixed!!!
I was one of the unlucky ones to have voice issues and since this was done in our server everything is running great now.
Unfortunately it seems as if 99% of the other CSS servers have not done this yet..and many mics still do not work in those rooms.
If you are an admin in your server that has access to the cfg files you need to change this setting in order to fix the mics. Peace.

Not for everyone. For windows 7 users:
Control Panel --> Sounds --> Communications --> Select "Do nothing"
This solved my issue. Not the second update. |
