One of my dad and I's inspiration (at least I say he was) for starting DoGz was my dog Tommey. He was definently my best friend and always faithful. And he was just like me, an asshole lol. Not only that but he had an amazing will to live and was stubborn as hell. He proved the vet. wrong MANY times when they thought he would go. Well, my dad came home the other night and there was blood all over the house and he found him unable to breath through his nose because he was gurgling blood. They took him to the vet and they sedated him and clotted the bleeding and brought him home. Well he woke up and I sat with him while he sneezed blood not stop for 2 hours. We took him back to the vet and left him there and picked him up in the morn. When we picked him up he was still bleed from the nose. Well, this was not a battle Tommey would win this time. We had him put down because he had a mass on his face that the vet said was probably the problem. (probably a tumor). Well we had him put down, and a fighter til the end, that bastard fought the shot. haha. The vet said he would pass fairly quickly...not Tommey.. haha. Vet kept checkin his heart sayin "hes almost gone" did that like 6 times. haha. Well, Tommey is no longer with us, but he will live on.
awesome story...glad tommey put up a fight until the end..I had a dog called casey when we came back from vacation ....her kidneys were failing and she became blind and deaf...had to have her put down...BEST DOG I'VE EVER HAD...its always hard....but it was the best thing for her..
Well, I don't have anything to share on the sentiment, but I am sorry for the loss. I'm a bit of a coward myself in the sense that I always know I will outlive a potential pet, so I avoid owning anything to avoid the heartbreak. In your case, however, I would say the saying "better to have loved and lost then to never loved at all" is entirely appropriate.
The best God given gift of an animal I've EVER had. A fighter, a protector, and the best friend to this family ever. It will be awhile before I get over this old man. It was honestly ... the hardest decision I've ever had to make... and still doubt myself. After 16 years, it's a huge loss. For me, the DoGz name will always be a testament to his tenacity and his love of life.
