i have windows 7 (my bro "downloaded" it) i don't use it though. I find it to be a bit too sketchy. I personally think that it just looks like a upgraded version of Windows 98... |

I obtained two free copies of Windows 7 Pro through the MSDNAA which I get a subscription to through my college. I've been using the 64 bit version on my desktop and the 32 bit on my laptop since about 3 months before its public release.
I've been obsessed with XP forever now, and said I'd never let go for Vista...which I didn't. But then I tried 7, and WOW. Windows 7 is amazing, if you want to talk looks, it is WAY nicer than vista if you look down at the little details and the Aero graphical system works much smoother (it runs Direct X 11 instead of DX10 on Vista and DX9 on XP). The desktop looks a bit ugly at first because of the start menu appearance, but your desktop is entirely customizable unlike the constricted themes in Vista.
As for resource use, a huge improvement over Vista. It uses only 2% more memory than XP did on my system where as Vista ran 13% higher than XP. When it comes to drivers it finds drivers with 100% accuracy so far even with obscure devices.
When it comes to games, they all run smoother and load faster for me than XP. Basically it has everything great from XP, everything you expected from Vista to work but didn't, and features that weren't even thought of for Vista at first. And the biggest of all would be security, XP is riddled with loopholes which leaves you open to attacks, Vista isn't as bad with that, but it still isn't all that great.
Best thing of all is running a 64 bit OS and not having a hiccup at any point, and I do a lot of random stuff that would normally cause issues. Oh and the 32 bit version runs smoother on my laptop than XP did and I didn't have to hunt for custom drivers.
Honestly I'd say you need to just try it yourself.
I love it and will never go back to XP or install Vista ever!
