I have noticed that all the servers have this same problem. Here is a Pingplotter report that pretty much clearly shows you guys what hops are fucking up (if you didn't already know).
Just send this to your hosting company and point at those 2 hops at the end there, looks like they need to restart/replace a couple switches/routers.
From what I can tell when I am actually playing these are VERY brief, VERY extreme spikes. It literally lasts all of 10 seconds at the most (unless there are multiple spikes) and then you can just watch the pings go back down to normal.

This guy seems to be the main offender.

Here is another PingPlot showing that primary offender hop, I am pinging every second, the spikes (100-200ms) seem to happen about every 8-10 seconds, with the occasional large spike (over 300ms) every minute or so. Hope this helps get things sorted out, the fast-nade server is definitely my CSS home for life, you guys run a solid server.

EDIT: Btw I am a west coaster.

I got the PingPlotter application that Tate is using above and got this:
I'm not completely sure how to read it, but I reckon this is not during a lag spike. That being said, those packet loss numbers can't be good...

I just tried to play, actually, and even though for a whole map my ping as shown on the net graph didn't exceed 100, I still felt quite a bit of "sliding" constantly. Not sure if you can somehow combine this bit of info with the PingPlotter graph above to come to any sort of conclusion...

From our provider...
We have identified a possible issue with one of the uplinks to the switch on this server. Please keep us updated if you experience further latency or packet loss. Additional traceroutes/pings during those times would be very helpful. |

another issue with the server now is ppl being able to get in....you can try over and over and over and if your lucky your able to get in otherwise its either "server not responding" or " tried to connect 4 times..blah blah blah" ....only occuring on dogz servers for me ...any other server is no problem..

Happens about every 20 mins or so, and last about 3 mins straight.
