What are some good food dishes?
terrowrist
I'm tired of having pasta, burgers, pizza stuff. I can cook, but I can't figure out what I should make.

The stuff on the internet is not bad, but I just wanted to see what you and your wives cook for you.

What meals do you like the most? What are some quick and easy meals to make?

Thanks

German stir fry is my personal favorite although i dont use sourkraut and i add summer sausage great dish http://recipes.sp...ipe=683574

Blubber
I've been getting more and more into the crock pot meals. It's nice just throwing something in there in the morning, go to work, and it's ready to eat as soon as I get home or if I'm not hungry I can just let it keep simmering. Been doing a lot of roasts with brown gravy but I don't really have direst recipes as most of my cooking is gluten free now a days.
Don't touch me there.

No pancake mix
My dad's Spanish so he enjoys cooking a lot of stuff both from home and here. One dish I've heard is quite good if you like seafood (which I do not hence saying I've heard) is paella if you care to make it.

paella is amazing!!!!!!

If you aren't too experienced at preparing seafood I'd suggest starting with something not too expensive but something like shrimp. If you can find some fresh try getting a bunch and preparing it different ways. Just listen to bubba from forrest gump and you can learn a lot lol. But no seriously shrimp isn't too badly priced and you can get it frozen or fresh. Or try Mexican dishes I'd say stay away from stir fry if you aren't too good in the kitchen as it's very easy to over cook or undercook.

IF YOUR A DERELICT SURE YOU CAN MESS UP STIR FRY 0_O

Your comment made absolutely no sense Pvt_ryan. You're and your are very much two different things also being homeless has nothing to do with cooking skills. With the stir fry option you have to worry about temperature control. I mean ok sure you can always get the frozen stir fry packages but I like fresher foods than that. I don't like my food undercooked and I don't really like it over cooked. So yes the actual stir fry process is not the best for a beginner cooker. Granted I'll cook stir fry on occasion but I'd much rather use my grill and smoker to prepare meats for dishes and the stove for preparing sauces for the meat.

Ryan, don't take it too personal. I started this topic to have everyone post what types of dishes they like. Everyone here has their own type of dishes and opinions about food stuff.

I didn't want anyone to start throwing knives at each other. I just want some good recipes that are delicious and healthy.

Just to see if hes well done or not Pfft

A few dishes I liked to make when i was living away for school:

Pasta(theres tons, i know you are tired of it, but theres a plethora of different recipes)
You could try Canneloni, Mannicotti, lasagna. (somewhat time consuming though)

Perogies with sour cream and bacon bits
Perogies with spicy ceaser sauce (siraicha and your ceaser dressing of choice)

Butter Chicken(i use a Kitchen of India pre made paste thing, you just gotta follow the instructions) with rice and Naan bread(can get in the bread section of stores..or should be able to)

Chicken with the spicy ceaser sauce from above(someimes i grate some parmesan cheese on it for some taste)
Chicken with spicy honey mustard sauce (siraicha and honey mustard)

*the above are all with chicken breasts, but you can try with different things to switch it up a bit

Theres this one which was Really good

Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken

4 chicken breast
4 cloves of Garlic minced
4Tables spoons of brown sugar
2 table spoons of olive oil

Preheat the oven to 500F--
grease the casserole dish
Saute garlic in some oil, remove from heat and add in brown sugar. mix together.
Place chicken breasts in dish and cover with garlic and brown sugar.
Add salt and pepper if desired.
Bake for 20-30 mins. depending on size.
--------------------------------------------------------------

On a side note, I usually cook chicken breasts at 450 for 30-40 minutes.

As for veggies, I never know when im going to get around to eating them, so i always went for the bags of frozen veggies and would usually do half a bag for a meal. obviously, you get what you like Pfft

BTW, i tend to eat a lot. for the butter chicken i usually have 2 chicken breasts and a cup of rice to myself with the naan bread.

Im just a giant so i tend to eat lots Grin

Also, i usually sauce the chicken after its out of the oven, but you can take them out about 5-10 minutes before they are done and sauce them and put them back in.

stops the sauce from burning too much. (usually for bbq sauce)

ALSO if you have RIBS!! you can slow cook ribs in the oven.
AND IF YOU HAVE A BBQ!!
RIBS N STEAK AND PORK CHOPS AND MORE CHICKEN! Grin

im definitely fond of steaks Grin

If you do not have a bbq, you can pan fry steaks.
Heres a good link to look to:

Also.

POTATOES

mashed, baked, fried, scalloped, fritters!

the best course of action is to look up a recipe and pick one that suits your tastes Smile

I wish I could just buy a female robot and ship it to TigerOx so he can program her to cook for me.
