While you guys may be familiar with the recent issues affecting East Coast players, here's a screenshot to add to the evidence pile. It's becoming increasingly impossible to play a full game without experiencing significant lag spikes for extended periods.
Wondering if you guys know the cause and if there is a fix coming soon.
Cheers.

I will also like to add, in addition to the east cost. I have noticed that the ping spikes also are now starting to effect places as close to the server as me, and I like in Dallas. Most of the time I don't get effected but over the last week I have been getting struck as well. There is always some people not effected so that rules out a dDos attack. I think you should get your provider which I have heard to be limestone, to check some of their switches. They mostly strike when all 4 of your servers have full loads or really close to it.
*note not complaining just adding to current thread and making suggestion* |

Don't think it's area specific, he's east coast, you're in the south and I'm west coast and we all get the 300+ ping spikes, it's everyone. |

We know about this issue. We are working with our provider to fix it.
Do you notice significant lag in-game during the spikes, or does the scoreboard just show the increase in ping? |

If you know how to do a traceroute, please post it here when you notice your ping spiking.
You can traceroute by typing,
tracert 69.162.97.18
in your windows command prompt.
You can substitute the IP for whichever server you are playing on. |

Tiger, to your question about ping spikes and lag. Yes when I am effected by the ping spikes I do lag, and its not just minor frame drop, it is were I feel my self teleporting around both forward and backward. When the pings skyrocket, I also hear other users complaining about the lag spikes and then they notice pings. And tiger I have tried that, and when I run the tracert it gets to my router and times out on any attempt past it(only to your server). {I play the turbo} |

To be honest I wouldn't trust the pings listed in the game. From what I've seen yesterday the pings were normal, but everyone was warping around. I've had it where it seems to lock up, start the countdown for disconnect, and catch up about 25 seconds later. All while showing normal pings. Also, there have been a few times where I watch the multiplayer board for about 30 seconds, and maybe 2 or 3 players pings are actually change, the rest seem frozen 0.o
(I'm in WI...)
I haven't modified my connection, and I'm on a faster provider than a few days ago when I was at college. |

I will state that I have also encountered client lag. No ping rise, but 90% of the clients on the server are warping. Could this be a client to client based attack using the servers connected ip's to target users? |

5/15/11
Time: 2:45pm pacific standard time.
Lag spikes were evident with 25-35% of players having a ping of 300 or more. Although the in game scoreboard said everyone had a good ping the game was still super laggy. All the players to me were warping including myself. This happened in the GunGame Deathmatch overflow server.

Definitely feel it on my end. Aside from players (including myself) warping around, it really ruins maps due to the competitive nature of DM. Snipers (scout, AWP) and knives, especially, are problematic, and if you get stuck on those during the ping spikes (which last for a minute plus sometimes), you've effectively lost your chance to win.

I've felt the lag spikes as well during the past few days that I've been back in the turbo gg server, its pretty hectic and you can feel yourself teleporting everywhere, pings arent always high when the spikes come but sometimes they seriously spike to show how bad people are lagging |
