So, I was talking with some of the d00ds who I play with regularily about this idea that I had. Namely, to have a GunGame: Elimination server. Now i know servers cost losts of money (anywhere from 20-30 a month from what I've gathered) and we have a huge list already.
So what I was thinking was maybe switching an existing server to Elimination mode. Such as Arena or Overflow.
My Debate:
Arena - Aside from liking it personally because it has a small map cycle which makes it an amazing place to test my newly released maps (if somewhat forcefully due to no voting), it's really just a 3rd DM server featuring smaller maps, rather then big ones like Texture City. I would say this would be a good candidate for switching to Elimination play mostly because you could keep the map line up and so forth, but just make a 0 into a 1 in the appropriate file =3
Overflow - Much like Arena, this is pretty much a Clone of our main server, but more so. It is unarguably used more, so it would be harder to make the switch, but it's still possible.
Either way, yes or no, I strongly believe the addition of GunGame: Elimination would boost interest as it offers new gameplay mechanics, yet somewhat keeps the aspect of DM for those who like it.
I would suggest making a mainpage vote about it. "Should we have a GG-Elimination Server?" or "Should we change _____ to GG-Elimation?"
Just my idea ^_^

The Arena server is much more than just smaller maps. The knife only during the rounds and instant grenades makes the game-play unique. I personally think it is a lot more fun than elimination.

Yep, had the elim server, nobody used it. Had a reg. server, nobody used it. Had a scoutz knives server, nobody used it.
All 3 of our DM servers are pretty much packed 24/7. I see no reason to take one out to put in something that has been tried before and has failed. I actually was playing DM last night with sinken and loveglove, that was the first time in like a year, so im pretty sure im going back to DM lol. |

Well i think it just takes a bit of advertising to friends about it, like in other dogz servers or over chat. Some friends and I were bored one night screwing around so we went to a random elim server that wasnt used much, ends up the server is packed within 1-2 weeks of word spread to friends and friends joining good friends games. Personally, I agree with batty and maybe you should give it another go and advertise it on this website, and some people when on other servers(meaning other DoGz servers) could just mention it from time to time like "hey you should also try our new elim server" yadda yadda. Just my thoughts~ |

Well you never know until you try again since dogz servers have been seriously populated lately, if attempted you can take the one least used of the dm servers and temporarily make it elim and if it doesnt work, switch it back. That is, if it can be done. |

i play on arena all the time...i would not want to see it go away. i played in elimination server when it was open and the only time we had people is when we pulled them out of turbo. i would say no to getting rid of our populated servers for one that has already failed. |

bobs right so you would end up opening the elm server and it takes away from the other servers that are already clicking together and keeping all populated...

I rarely see arena above 6-8 people max at any given time, but thats just me.

Our DM servers are hands down THE BEST out there. That is a well known fact in the gungame community. People strive to get their servers populated like ours. Even the lowest populated DM server server brings in more people than the old elim server ever did. And like it was said, it only ever just pulled people out of turbo. It just doesnt make sense to turn a DM into an elim. in my eyes. |

I agree with my [*DoGz*].... the comments and screen shots provided is enough for me to say negative on an Elim sever. The Elim server was dead after the 1st week if I recall. Anyways, those who want to game on an Elim server, go ahead and find 1.... you'll be back!!! This only shows that possibly all the elimination servers out aren't up to par..... and they want to see it from the #1 GG servers. Well, if y'all donated more, this could maybe be a reality in the furture. But, hey, if it ain't broke...... don't try to fix it!!! All DM servers should stay.
Well, if you don't like it....you can get a bowl of "DEEZNUTZ"...

As one who runs a similar if competing server cluster, I believe I can give some input as to why Elimination servers may not be successful at Dogz: It's obvious that you guys do a fantastic job with your Deathmatch servers (as ours currently trail only yours according to Gametracker), but rarely are there actual Dogz members in there. Elimination (and subsequently Reverse) have lots of downtime between kills, so players want a constant conversation flow with regulars as well as members of the hosting clan. Many Dogz members can be found in your Reverse server, which is why I believe it's thrived. And seeing how selective you guys are with your membership process, you guys would be stretching the active community thin with another Elimination server. In fact, we recently experienced this ourselves (we had two Elimination servers but saw the activity of the more popular one double when we removed the less active one).
